I'm Back

Well its been almost a month and the Swans have rocketed up the ladder with 6 wins in a row but finally I'm back and www.swansblog.com is back on the road after an unforced layoff due to my father's poor health, which saw him lose his bowel. Sadly this meant I didn't have the time to keep the website up to date as much as I wanted to as I had to care for him, but never fear I didn't stop watching the Swans as we put the Tigers away by 118 points, then the Bulldogs, then the Hawks and on Sunday the Kangaroos in yet another "rip their hearts out" affair. But more on those matches later.

I'm glad to be back, I hope to stay up to date from here on in and have a few treats for the loyal fans who read this site (and I know there are a handful, though I always wish there could be more). So hopeful you stick with the site in what shapes up to be a big year of football and is due to be a HUGE 6 weeks of football in chace of the Top 2.

Enjoy.

Swansblog.com to Help Charity Cause

Blues meet to consider seeking AFL assistance

collo9cs.jpg

THE new streamlined Carlton board will convene tonight to vote upon a series of groundbreaking issues that will determine the future of the club. The Age believes there is a push from sections of the board to seek AFL financial assistance, with the Blues set to announce another significant loss at next month's annual meeting. While the football club is expected to announce a small profit, that will be more than swallowed up by a big social club loss — the size of which is still being determined by the club's auditors.

and

Carlton remains one of several Victorian clubs that does not have a ball sponsor, and is yet to strike a commercial deal for coach Denis Pagan as he embarks upon his second three-year stint with the Blues. It also faces 2006 without its long-term Optus agreement. The Blues are not confident of signing a sponsor for Princes Park, given the stadium's new position as a training venue rather than an AFL matchday ground.

Now swansblog.com is always the first to jump on a charity cause because we are just a big pack of softies. So therefore I propose that we the fans of the Sydney Swans Football Club return the kind favour of Charity, Carlton offered us in our hour of need way back in 1992. As they say forgive, but never forget. Well I haven't forgotten and well I certainly never have, nor never will forgive that pack of vultures for what they tried to do, so therefore I want to see the club make the following kind offer to Carlton:

Collo you can,

- Close down the Carlton Football Club.
- Get rid of all your players.
- Allow the Swans to then select 2 or 3 of your best players as a tokin jesture.
- Transfer all remaining sponsor accounts to us
- Then suggest that the Swans take over 11 of your games and play them in Sydney.

In return the Swans will use those tokin players and even throw in a tokin patch of Navy Blue on our shorts just to compensate all your fans left behind (can't allow broken hearted fans can we).

So Swans fans please give that Carlton may die and we can grow.

2006 Season Starts Now

Well the team is in L.A. and the game is about 48 hours away, so I guess this is the best time to put 2005 behind us and move onto Season 2006 and hopefully what will turn out to be our first ever successful premiership defence.

As a site I hope to get the posting level on my behalf back up to a daily event and hope maybe to add a few bits and pieces along the way (such as piss-takes, new more witter writers and a regular 3-2-1 voting system for Player of the Year.

Anyway I hope those who have been here since the start keep coming back and I hope likewise those of you who have since joined the sites readership.

Enjoy Swansblog during 2006 as the Swans go BACK TO BACK.

2005 - The Year of the SWANS

Well here we are at the end of the first year of Swansblog.com and we are already basking in the glory of a premiership, which isn't too bad now is it. Anyway this post is just a quick note to say that I'll be updating the site in the next day or two with the Player of the Year being named, 2005 player report cards and a season in review article.

So stay tuned.

Swans Blog Summer Update

Long time no post I know, but never fear I plan to over this long weekend to start writing up my season 2005 report card, name my 2005 player of the year and start work on my Phantom Draft which is moving from RWO to here after 3 years of getting it wrong badly, I certainly expect this trend to continue.

No major news from the Swans to report other than Ben Fixter is training with the Brisbane Lions after being delisted, but as of yet no offical word has come from the club so I don't know the full reasoning given behind this.

Amon Buchanan, Nick Davis and Ryan O'Keefe all were picked and played for Australia in the International Rules series which didn't feature Tadhg Kennelly for the Irish who is back home injured. He must be enjoying his stay at home because reports out of Ireland that he wants to head home at the end of next year when his contract is up, keep popping up.

Other that the only other news is that all injured players are comming along well and Ryan O'Keefe is close to re-signing a 3 year deal in the comming weeks.

Anyway until next time, keep on enjoying that Premiership feeling.

We're Back On The Road Again

50.jpg

That's right, "It Never Rains, but it pours" is firing up the old Virgin Blue plane to make the trip from God's own Country into the pits of Hell (or for those who don't understand I'm travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide) for the match against the Crows at AAMI Stadium on Saturday Night. No doubt if I make it back in one piece (and after the match against the Tigers that isn't a sure thing anymore) I'll have a first hand match report and some pics that I find funny (though the rest of you think are pure crap).

Still if your going to be at the match pop into BAY 119 and say hi (or throw sharpe objects) and hopefully we can make it back across the border with 4 points and our sanity in tact.

Stop Child Cruelty

Always willing to help prevent all forms of child abuse, It Never Rains, But It Pours is more than happy to support the latest anti-child cruelty campaign in the lead up to this weeks match against Collingwood by posting this up-coming ad.

If you know of anyone who commits this horrible horrible crime, smack them across the head will you.

Coonamble Fire Appeal - Please Help

It Never Rains, But It Pours is supporting the following appeal and would like to see as many of its readers support this appeal.

Coonamble Fire Appeal

In the early hours of Sunday 6 June 2005, the home of the Conn family was destroyed by fire, 50km south-east of Coonamble in western NSW.

Tony and Belinda Conn and their 4 year old son Will sadly lost their lives in a family tragedy that has devastated the small rural community.

Coonamble Mayor Tim Horan has launched an appeal on behalf of the surviving Conn children Samantha, Matthew and Joe. It is hoped that through the generosity of fellow Australians, these children - who have lost everything - can be given a head start in putting their lives back together.

The Coonamble community, on behalf of the Conn and Butler families, thanks you for your support.

UPDATE

Well I suppose everyone is wondering why this site hasn't been updated since the weekend. Well its two fold.

1) The Swans performance on Saturday Night has pissed me off to a level where I really don't want to write about them
2) My poor health this week has forced me to stay away from the computer and therefore the little time I've spent on the computer has been on other projects.

Don't fear, tomorrow I'll do a massive update on Swans news, match review of the Saints loss, this weeks teams and maybe some funny pics to make everyone feel better again.

So don't fear, this site will be updated tomorrow and hopefully will be business as normal from then on.

Just thought I'd plug the newest site in the footyblogs.com stable, now producing its very own style of horse shit:

Welcome to the Dark Side

Thanks for that Chief, I promise not to brake it.

Well zero hour is upon us and today mark’s the start of “It never rains, but it pours. Of course it is only a matter of hours since the Swans decided to send me to the little padded cell at SB Towers for some much needed rest. But now its time to begin what promises to be one hell of a ride (one that promises to deliver lawsuits and even more trips to the loony bin).

Now “It never rains, but it pours is my piss-poor attempt to vent my rage without being held back by the “rules over at RWO (try and stop me now) and BigFooty. You don’t have to like what I write or what topics I write about, but then again I don’t have to like you, know do I? Anyway regardless of what you think, please feel free to use the comment function below to express your feelings about anything I have to say.

I don’t promise journalistic brilliance (as if that will happen), but I promise to speak my mind. So sit back and enjoy the ride as “It never rains, but it pours fires up.
