Trade Talk

Well its that time of the year again and that means endless rumors and talk about "said" player going to "said" team for "said" value. Even though we are just a week past our success in the Grand Final the Swans are more than just involved in this meat market of a week and "It Never Rains" will try and keep everyone up to date, with media rumors (none of these "my mate knows...." rumors that pop up on the net) and any dealings that the club becomes involved in.

I'll start this ball rolling with this post containing a few of the early rumors and the belief factor include, so here goes nothing.

Peter Everitt (Hawthorn): Could be the blockbuster trade of the trade period. The Swans have made it known they want a ready made ruckman to replace Jason Ball and see Everitt as the perfect replacement in type and abilty. Hawks don't want to give him up but looks like Everitt is about to force their hand and ask to be traded to Sydney to join his "mate" Barry Hall. Would cost us a fair bit for a 30+ ruckman, but hell I wouldn't turn down a current All-Australian Ruckman.

Beau McDonald (Brisbane): Seen by many to be the Swans back up option for the ruck position if it can't get Everitt to the club in a trade. Wanted at the Lions and is close to signing a one year deal to stay put which leads us to,

Clark Keating (Brisbane): While Brisbane aren't willing to let McDonald go, they might be willing to let Grand Final hero Keating go to free up space in their salary cap. I would stay clear of him however.

Ryan Lonie (Collingwood): Big bodied midfielder cum forward/defender which we have plenty of in our side, so God knows why we would be wanting him.

Ted Richards (Essendon): Another "what the" rumor but this one might have legs as the Swans need depth in the key positions both forward and most important of all down back and Richards could fit well into the Full Back role if required. Essendon have asked for a first round pick, but we might be able to get away with a second or even third round pick.

Now on the other side of the ball the Swans have Jason Saddington and Mark Powell asking to be traded with Saddo likely to end up back under Rodney Eade at the Bulldogs and Powell we might be able to get a third round pick out of a club for.

That's it for now, I'll keep you all posted

According to today's papers their after a ruckman from Geelong.

He only 23. Seems like a better prospect than Spider who's 31.
