Swans Land Their First Trade
The Swans today landed their first major piece of the trade period by claiming Paul Chambers from Geelong for our 2nd Round Draft Pick, number 35 overall, and in doing so forfilled their aim to trade for an expirenced ruckman to fill the void left by Jason Ball's retirement.
While the news all week has been pointing towards the Swans looking to do a deal with the Hawks for Peter Everitt, the Swans seem to be either getting a backup plan in place and still hope to make a deal which would likely see Stephen Doyle leave the club or they have decided that the Hawks won't deal and have given up.
I think the latter is the more likely but if we still miss out on Everitt a ruck department of Jolly, Chambers, Doyle and Eriksen should be good enough to repeat the feats of this year. With that out of the way, talk moves to the key positions and Teds Richards name again came up with a deal which saw a stright swap between Sydney and Essendon for Richards in return for Saddo.
The wheels are turning......
